Sandals Regency La Toc Review - St. Lucia - Honeymoon Always
Overview
Dan and Michelle of Honeymoon Always have stayed at all 17 Sandals resorts, including every Sandals property in St. Lucia. Sandals Regency La Toc is an adults-only, all-inclusive resort in Castries, St. Lucia — and is described as their personal favorite Sandals resort in St. Lucia.
Resort stats: 10 restaurants, 8 bars, 3 pools.
Resort Layout — Three Main Areas
1. Sunset Bluff
- Perched high on a hill
- Home to a quiet, more relaxing pool with a swim-up bar and cliffside views
2. Main Area (Down the Hill)
- Central hub with the main pool and most restaurants
3. Rondoville Village
- Built on the site of the former golf course; newer addition to the resort
- Has its own butler check-in area and a separate room service menu (including a well-liked jerk chicken wrap)
- Large area — bikes provided to help guests get around
- Room options: Rondoville and Sky Villa
- Room proximity to the main resort varies significantly — worth requesting a location preference
Navigating the Resort
- The resort is spread out and hilly, connecting Sunset Bluff to the main area via a central hill
- Shuttle service available; butler-suite guests get golf cart pickup
- Note for guests with mobility concerns: the hills/stairs can be genuinely difficult to navigate — this resort may not be the best fit if mobility is a concern
Beach
- One of the reviewers' favorite beaches of any Sandals property, but also the most polarizing
- Has noticeable current and wave action — some guests love it, others avoid the water entirely
- Long stretch of beach, good for walking; wave sound audible from much of the resort
- No motorized water sports (wakeboarding, wake skiing, tubing) due to choppier water conditions — kayaking and other non-motorized water sports available
- Occasional "red flag" days restrict water sports (roughly 1–2 days across two separate one-week stays)
- On red flag days, guests can visit Halcyon (a 20-minute drive), where water is calmer and motorized water sports are available
Pools
- Main pool: Livelier, located near the beach and a waterfall feature — combines wave sound and waterfall white noise; closer to daytime entertainment
- Sunset Bluff pool: Quieter, swim-up bar, cliffside views
- Quiet pool (between the two): No music, explicitly signed as a quiet zone; a few stairs down to beach access
- Several room categories include private plunge pools, including some recently renovated high-end rooms
Rooms
- Wide variety of categories — from private-pool high-end rooms (recently renovated, among the best in the Sandals portfolio) to Club Level and Luxury Level rooms
- All room tiers include access to the full resort
Activities & Amenities
- Tennis & Pickleball: Recently refinished tennis courts, pickleball courts added about a year ago — good for groups
- Golf: Shuttle available to an off-site course; green fees included in the stay
Entertainment
- Local youth choir performance during the reviewers' visit
- Weekly beach party — described as the most fun/well-attended of any Sandals beach party experienced, with high guest participation
- Fire dancing performers featured at the beach party
- New "Cooking with the Manager" event — the resort's general manager is a former chef and leads guests through St. Lucian food and rum tastings
Excursions
- The Pitons: Iconic must-do excursion, accessible via speedboat, catamaran, or scuba diving (scuba included in the stay). Reviewers noted their own excursion felt somewhat touristy due to high guest volume, but still worth doing at least once
- Cooking class (booked through Island Roots): Hands-on class with a local chef preparing a three-course St. Lucian meal
Recent & Upcoming Updates
- Ongoing light room renovations (no disruptive construction noise for guests)
- New smoothie/coffee bar in the breakfast area
- Coming soon (1–2 months): First of two coffee shops (Bloom Coffee)
- Coming later (~1.5–2 years): Second coffee shop in the new Rondoville area, paired with a new Rondoville pool designed similarly to the pool at Sandals Halcyon (St. Vincent)
- Amphitheater area being replaced with additional pool deck seating (more chairs near the beach/pool)
- New jerk shack planned in the area currently used for water sports
- General manager (in role ~2 years) is actively driving these upgrades, moving the resort toward what the reviewers call "Sandals 2.0"
Getting There
All three Sandals St. Lucia resorts are located on the opposite side of the island from the main airport.
- Standard option: Free shuttle transfer included with stay (long, winding drive)
- Alternative options (preferred by the reviewers due to motion sickness): helicopter transfer or boat transfer (similar duration to driving; their boat transfer included a dolphin escort)
Bottom Line
Sandals Regency La Toc remains the reviewers' top pick among the three St. Lucia Sandals properties, though they note resort choice is highly personal — some travelers prefer the calm of Halcyon or the liveliness/water sports focus of Grand St. Lucian instead.
