Skyview Hotel Bangkok

Location & Getting There

The Skyview Hotel is located in Bangkok's upscale M-District on Sukhumvit Soi 24, just around the corner from Phrom Phong BTS Station. The easiest way to reach the hotel from the station is by cutting through the Emporium Shopping Center, offering a fully air-conditioned walk nearly the entire way.

Nearby landmarks: Emporium Mall, M-Sphere, M-Quartier (across the street), Robo Taiaki Anbar (Japanese izakaya with live music), a high-end sushi restaurant, several massage shops, and multiple 7-Elevens.

Neighborhood vibe: Quieter and more upscale than the Asok/Nana area one stop west. Mostly four- and five-star hotels, less street-level activity, and a notably different clientele due to the surrounding luxury shopping malls.

Hotel Overview

  • Opened: 2016 as a Compass property; rebranded Skyview in 2020
  • Target demographic: Younger, chic travelers
  • Star rating: Marketed as five-star, but closer to a four-star by Western standards
  • Nearby alternatives: Mövenpick and Ibis (budget-friendly, also with a pool), Hilton (similar price point, more classic design)

Check-In

Check-in is strictly at 2:00 p.m. Early check-in is available for approximately half the nightly rate. Guests arriving early can leave luggage and use a shower on the 7th floor while waiting. The hotel was noted to be firm about enforcing the check-in time.

The Room — Grand Executive Corner Room (Floor 26)

Rate: ~$300 CAD/night (includes breakfast); ~1,300 CAD total for five nights during peak season.

Highlights:

  • Floor-to-ceiling windows on two sides (corner unit)
  • Bathtub with a city view
  • Comfortable medium-firm bed
  • Bedside controls for lights, USB and universal power outlets, and a phone
  • Loveseat seating area
  • Mini fridge, safe, ample storage, small work desk
  • Daily housekeeping with two complimentary water bottles
  • Instant coffee, tea, kettle, and cups provided
  • Easy Wi-Fi throughout the property (~50 down / 30 up Mbps)

Limitations:

  • Finishings feel more four-star — veneer surfaces, some wear and fraying carpet
  • TV is small relative to viewing distance, and lacks smart apps (Netflix, YouTube, etc.) — HDMI ports available
  • TV and elevator screens play looping hotel advertisements
  • No smart TV apps, though Global (Canada) and other international channels available

Bathroom

  • Excellent water pressure with a rainfall and detachable showerhead
  • Soaking tub that fills quickly with hot water
  • Tinted windows for privacy (blinds also available)
  • Single vanity sink with large mirror
  • Bum gun and basic bidet functions
  • Amenities: comb, toothbrush, toothpaste, shower cap, Q-tips, body lotion, shampoo, conditioner, shower gel, tissues
  • Minor note: No separation between toilet and shower/tub — could feel cramped for two guests sharing

Amenities

Breakfast Buffet One of the better hotel breakfast spreads encountered. Includes a bread and carb station, salad bar, charcuterie, fruit, juices, egg station, bacon, sausages, beans, and four self-serve coffee machines for lattes and cappuccinos. The same space operates as a steak restaurant in the evenings.

Pool Good size, unheated, with a rooftop bar (beers ~200+ THB, charged to room) and free sun loungers. Highly competitive to claim a spot when the hotel is full — described as a "Hunger Games situation." Shower facilities available in the pool bathrooms.

Gym Functional but not impressive. Equipment includes a Smith machine, leg press, lat pull-down, adjustable bench, dumbbells, and a chest press machine. Notably missing a pull-up bar and dip bars.

Rooftop Bars Two options — Vanilla Sky and Mojo. Vanilla Sky was visited and described as a very nice rooftop bar with reasonably priced drinks.

Currency Exchange Available on-site.

Verdict

Location: A+ — Steps from Phrom Phong BTS, surrounded by excellent shopping and dining, quieter and more upscale than neighboring areas.

Would the reviewer stay again? Yes — with the caveat that they prefer exploring new properties each visit, so likely won't return simply for that reason. Overall a solid, comfortable stay at a fair price for the area.
