Jumeirah Marsa Al Arab Dubai - Ultra-Luxury Hotel Review
Introduction
Today I'm staying in Dubai's newest ultra-luxury resort — private beaches, super yacht design, and some of the most expensive rooms in the city. The hotel is shaped like a giant yacht and sits alongside the iconic Burj Al Arab. But is it worth it? Let's find out.
Arrival & Check-In
Arrived at the hotel around 2:00 p.m. — check-in isn't until 4:00 p.m., so the room wasn't ready. Headed to the beach club for lunch while waiting.
First impressions: A sleek, beautifully designed property with a distinctly nautical aesthetic. Buggies are available to drive guests around the resort. The beach club area is exclusively for suite guests.
Beach Club & Pool (Pre-Check-In)
- Stunning pool with views of the Burj Al Arab
- Raked beach with premium sun loungers — two different styles available
- Service button on the sunbed to summon staff for drinks or sun cream
- Note: you cannot swim directly in the sea from this particular beach club
Lunch: Watermelon salad with feta cheese and pistachios, iced coffee, and bread. Food quality was excellent.
The Suite
A large end suite on the property with a 180-degree view — ocean on one side, marina and downtown Dubai on the other.
Layout:
- Private nanny/childminder quarters with their own bathroom, bedroom, and TV (separate from the main suite)
- Full kitchen with marble countertops, wine fridge, and oven
- Large living room with marble dining table
- Bedroom with unique chandelier, leather headboard, and embroidered cushions
- Walk-in wardrobe with leather hangers, dedicated jewelry storage, and safe
- Two full bathrooms (one en suite master, one secondary)
Welcome Gifts (from the General Manager):
- Japanese apples
- Assortment of luxury chocolates (milk, dark, and caramel)
- Welcome caviar — a first for this reviewer
Mini Bar & In-Room Extras:
- Fully stocked fridge with champagne and cocktail book
- Dubai chocolate (the viral variety)
- Coffee machine and warming kettle
- Evian water and branded smart speaker
- Personalized slippers with initials monogrammed
- Personalized pillow with initials (delivered before bed turndown)
- Mattress encasement provided
Technology & Controls:
- Bedside controls for curtains and lighting
- USB charging at the bedside
- Decent in-room phone
Bathrooms
Secondary Bathroom: Shower larger than expected for its position in the suite. Clean, well-appointed, with quality fittings — notably not plastic.
Master Bathroom:
- Large soaking tub with views of downtown Dubai and the marina
- Oversized rainfall shower with multiple functions, built-in bench, and uplit shower gel shelving
- All amenities presented in a leather box with gold detailing — an elegant touch
- Marble throughout, branding consistently well-executed
The Balcony
One of the largest balconies encountered in a hotel room. Wraps 180 degrees around the front of the suite.
Features:
- Multiple sets of leather sunbeds
- Outdoor marble dining table
- Outdoor living room with dark wood furniture
- External lighting throughout
- Ocean view one side, marina and downtown Dubai the other
Dining & Bars
Fine Dining Steakhouse (Dinner): Timed for sunset golden hour. Menu presented like a book — a modern luxury steakhouse concept described as "from shore to sea." Highlights:
- Brioche and whole grain bread served with regular butter and chocolate butter
- Crispy crab starter with crab and lobster sauce — excellent
- Short rib main: ribs deboned, served with a light sauce (not heavy barbecue), roasted carrots, and a small portion of mashed potato — melt-in-your-mouth quality
- Personalized steak knife presentation with choice of blade style
Rialto Bar: Exclusive and elegant — cocktails, cognac, and whiskey. Staff dressed in white. Features an impressive chandelier centerpiece.
Beach Bar: Casual, chic bar located directly by the beach — highly recommended.
Breakfast Buffet
Described as one of the largest buffets in the UAE — possibly the second largest in Dubai after the Atlantis.
Highlights:
- International spread: Asian, Indian, English, American
- Sushi available at breakfast
- Seafood tower
- Pastry and croissant station
- Create-your-own cereal and toast bars
- À la carte eggs, French toast, Eggs Benedict
- Dessert and cake display (same chocolates as the in-room welcome gift available for purchase)
- Breakfast included in the room rate
Other Amenities
- Butler service — available via WhatsApp for restaurant recommendations, transport arrangements, and in-room requests
- VIP exclusive pool — private to suite guests
- Exclusive beach — private adult beach also available (not visited)
- Indoor pool — available for when outdoor heat is too intense
- Wild Wadi Water Park access — included with the room but closed during this visit for annual renovations (second time this has happened at a Jumeirah property)
- Fine jewelry boutique and art gallery within the hotel
- Casino — reportedly coming soon to the property
Room Rate
Exact nightly rate shown on screen in the video. Breakfast included. Mini bar not included — standard for the property.
Final Verdict
Highlights:
- One of the best views in Dubai — 180-degree ocean, marina, and city panorama
- Exceptional personal touches: monogrammed slippers, monogrammed pillow, welcome caviar, Japanese apples, luxury chocolates
- Butler service adds genuine convenience and personalization
- Bars feel intimate and exclusive despite the scale of the property
- Breakfast buffet is genuinely impressive — among the best in Dubai
- Comfortable bed and well-designed suite layout
Minor Drawbacks:
- 4:00 p.m. check-in limits afternoon pool and beach time
- Mini bar not complimentary at this price point
- Wild Wadi Water Park closed during visit
Overall — a property with real class, strong personal service, and one of the most spectacular views available in Dubai.
